Heyyy everybody! I had an incredible week!! Shoutout to Mylie and the whole MV team!! State Champs!!!!! That's so awesome!!! While all you guys are freezing at home, I'm having to buy a fanny pack instead of a backpack cuz it's so hot and I'm sweating and the backpack is turning my shirt's black. It's plenty hot here and it's not even the real heat of summer yet... I'm gonna die. Anyways I'll try and fill you guys in on what my new area is like. We live in a sketchy lil house in the hood of our town called Chimbarongo, it's way smaller than San Fernando and I love it. Since it's pretty small, our area has huge boundaries with other little towns in it like Peor es Nada, Rincon, and Tinguiririca. So we get to walk a lot of miles and even travel by bus. I love it. A lot of the areas feel a bit more like home with people living more spread out and stuff. Anyways, I love this new area! I also especially love my new companion Elder Holman, he's been a best friend since we were in the MTC together and now we're both a couple of small town kids that can talk about being QB's in small town football and sing Chris Ledoux together and stuff. So yeah I couldn't possibly ask for a better companion or friend than Elder Holman!
So first things first we have a baptism coming up this Saturday. We've been able to teach Samuel and he is incredible, his wife Scarlet was baptized a couple weeks ago and now he's ready, they have desires to go to the temple and have the priesthood in the home and everything, it's amazing to see how much the gospel has put light into their lives. We also had our first lesson with Luz Maria and her son who has a really bad issue with drugs, and long long story short, the situation is about as bad as anyone could possibly be in, like it's so awful. We have been able to give her a Book of Mormon and share some messages about how she can find peace in her life through the gospel of Jesus Christ. She has told us that we are angels sent specifically for her at this time and it hit me pretty hard that this is exactly where the Lord wants me to be at this very moment! We're going to continue to work with a lot of members and especially less active people here. I only have one week here so I don't know a ton of people but I am so excited to get to know everyone here and work my hardest to try and make a real change here.
Elder Holman and I have been able to see that the Lord is with us at all times. He is with everyone at all times, and we've been trying to focus on how we can find him. We've been having all sorts of miracles and have been able to acknowledge more of them because we're trying to focus on the hand of the Lord with us. We admit that we have no business doing what we are right now, how on earth are 2 small town American kids supposed to be out together with less than 3 months in a new country and not just live, but help people and change their lives. Yeah, we aren't personally capable but here we are doing it day in and day out because this is the Lord's work and he's helping us. A cool miracle I'd like to share is one night we came home and had no power in the house and no light or nothing. We tried messing with the breaker box because our power shut off all the time randomly and we usually just have to flip it back on and it works, but this time it literally wasn't working. So what else could we do but pray, and immediately after our prayer we flipped the switch and the power fired up, it was incredible. That was our first day together and we instantly knew that God is with us. Pretty Awesome! So that's what I'm gonna challenge you guys to do, search for how God is in your life and I promise you will start to recognize miracles.
Remember I still love hearing from you guys, any message at any time makes my day every time. I mean that haha. I hope that you are all doing well, and you can know that I feel like I am doing super good here in Chile. I love it here!
Elder Micheli
