Happy Holidays! (Jan. 1, 2024)
Hey everyone!! I hope you've all had a very Merry Christmas and that 2024 will be the best year ever! Sorry I haven't been doing so good about writing emails lately. How about a good new years resolution that I write one every week from now until the end of my mission? I'll do my best! Anyways I'll try and tell what's been happening.
These have been some very special weeks for me here in the mission! We had 3 baptisms and they were all really awesome! We baptized Gabriel Sunday the 17th and he is so great! He's a 12 year old and always full of energy so it wasn't always easy to teach him, but it's amazing to see how him making good choices has filled him with the spirit! Then on Christmas eve we had 2 baptisms, one was Vicente who we had found just 3 weeks before. His mom is a member and we contacted her in the street. They had recently moved to Curico from Quillota and her oldest son Vicente loved the gospel from the moment he met him and committed to be baptized that same day. He came through with that date and he's already a missionary to all of his friends and neighbors. The most special is that the other kid who got baptized with him, Jose Ignacio, didn't ever want to get baptized. His mom was baptized a couple months ago and we've been trying to teach him and he had come to church a few times with his mom but never wanted to be baptized, but the moment Vicente met him they were instantly friends and Vicente invited him to be baptized with him on the same day!! He said yes and they were able to both get baptized on the 24th! It was so awesome!
Something I have been thinking about a lot lately is about our identity, who we really are, and who we can become. We are all children of God with a potential to become just as he is, but we all have to come here to earth and be tested. We are all influenced and become lost in this world full of so many voices and choices and we mess up. The goal however is to make it back to our Heavenly Father, and we musted be changed in order to return to him, and the only true healing and changing power in this universe is the Atonement of Jesus Christ. Jesus Christ and his doctrine will always be our way to salvation, and no matter how far away the world will stray from his precepts and commandments, we will only find salvation and change in HIM! So we all need to get to know him and follow him, we need to let him be the difference in our lives that let's us change. I love him and I know that he lives and that his Atonement is real, and i am so grateful that I have been called to testify of that each and every day.
