Joy in the Work! (Feb. 12, 2024)
Hey everyone, I'm back again with another great week in San Javier! We had a lot of really good things happen this last week with some incredible miracles!
First of all, Brandon who was baptized last week got confirmed Sunday, also got the priesthood, his temple recommendation, and his family search setup! It's amazing to see how much the gospel has changed himi and how fast it has happened! He was so prepared! Also we finally got the really good part member family awake Sunday morning and they came to church which is huge! The girls loved it and can't wait to get baptized! They also brought a friend with them that really liked church! Really good stuff!!
We started English classes and game nights this week and it made a big difference for us. We got a lot of people to the activities which helps our friends get to know the church and feel comfortable and it also helps the branch a lot. All the members are really excited about what we're doing and are more and more excited to help! The part member family came to the game night activity and that's when they decided to make sure they came to church on Sunday and they came! It's really fun putting in all of our efforts to see results here and things come through!
This week we had a lesson with this other family we found a couple weeks ago and they haven't been progressing much recently, but they invited us over and we had an incredible lesson with them and put one of their daughters on date! Her mom who is a member could remember her baptism and the spirit was so strong! When we left and it was time to walk home, right outside the lesson there was a guy with a BYU shirt on and I was like, "what the?" so I went and talked to him, he had no idea what BYU is but he wanted to know more about the gospel. It was late so he invited us back to his house the next day to teach him. We went and he was so good! He loved our message and accepted to be baptized and we put him on date as well! It was so amazing!
Not every moment of this week was so amazing like these, it was still super hot and a lot of people rejected us, but those aren't the moments that I remember, the amazing moments and miracles make everything worth it! That's what I'm trying to do lately, just focus on the good moments and keep a good attitude and high energy, it isn't always very easy, but it makes the work so much better and it's a lot more fun! I guess that's my message for the week haha, our attitudes are very important, we should strive to "be creators of the circumstances and not creations of them." I know that a good and grateful attitude will always help us create better circumstances!
I love and miss you all so much, I'd love to hear from you all!!
Elder Micheli
